Dawn Van Horn (My Mother)

Most people love their mother, and most will say that their mother is truly special. However, I humbly submit that my mother is in fact the most special of them all. Not only did my Mom give birth to me, and then put up with my crazy self, but she spent her time helping me when I needed it. She spent 6 years home-schooling my brother and I, out weekly trips to the library and field trips taking us a long ways to where we are today. Mom and Dad were always there during college when we were away from home, ready to help us whenever we needed them.

Mom and I have had some great times, we could never forget three days backpacking beside the Juan de Fuca straight. Wet trails, lots of mud, cliffs, beautiful beaches, and of course the slippy wet logs to cross the rivers. And it was Mom who insisted on pushing on that second day to the shelter - twelve miles of some of the most difficult hiking I've ever done!

Mom was also there to make one of the best days of my life that much more special. When Gina and I got married, she did all the flowers (amazing beautiful right out of the gardens). Not only that but she was so sweet helping Gina get ready, and tying my tie that I couldn't remember how to do for the life me.

There is no way anyone can list all the things there mother has done for them, I know I can't, but none of them were in vain. I'm the person I am today because of my mother. Thank you Mom for everything, I love you.
