Trail 201 - Rippey Trail
Trail 201 connects the west county road 600 trailhead with
TR209 around Eye of the Needle. The trail is 2 or 3.5 miles long depending how you measure it (Stated mileage of 3.5 on the Backcountry Survey map and 2 on the Carto Craft map). The trail also provides bushwhacking access to Quillan Creek and Parker Branch. TR202 goes off to the east near the trailhead as well providing potential for some nice day hikes from this trailhead. To get to trail 201 start at the trailhead on road 600 and follow the only trail there for about 1/2 a mile. Then there will be an obvious junction with a sign, trail 201 goes to the left (west). The trail winds around on top of the ridge for about a mile or so before heading down to the Sipsey. This is where the trail gets interesting. The way down to the Sipsey is relatively steep and includes some views and hiking around some huge boulders. From the bottom the trail winds around to the Sipsey river and follows the river east for quite a while. Where you cross the river will depend on you, there is a trail on the other side the whole way.
