Spring Flowers
Spring is the time that everyone wants to be in the woods, flowers, water, and sun are everywhere. The weather is great if you can avoid the rain, and you can see out from the mountain tops if you go before the leaves have come back. These pictures were taken during my March 2000 thru-hike. What was really interesting about the hike was seeing the different types of flowers blooming in different places. Some sections had the very early flowers in bloom (Blood Root, Bluets, and even Crocus) while in other sections the summer flowers were out (Indian Paintbrush and Jasmine). The place with the most flowers is in Section 6 between County Road 24 and the point where the trail begins to climb Blue Mountain. There are a lot of flowers so be patient while they load. |
These Anemones (Herb) come in different shades from pink to a light purple to white. |
