News

I have just accepted a job at the University of Washington in Seattle and will be moving in March.  At just about this time I was contacted by Jay Hudson who was interested in seeing that this site lived on when I was and was interested in sponsoring it as part of a new effort to connect the Pinhoti with the Florida Trail and finish our portion of the Eastern Continental Trail.  I accepted his offer, and offered to be the web master for this new effort, a way of continuing my connection in Alabama while living nearly 3,000 miles away.  So, Hiking Alabama is now brought to you by the Alabama Trail Consortium.  I will remain the web master, and continued updates and improvements to the site will continue though the consortium.  All of us involved in this new effort would greatly appreciate your support.

As of Sunday, November 26th Nimblewill Nomad has finished his south bound through hike of the international AT, starting at Cape Gaspe Quebec. Congratulations Nomad. He should be hitting the Pinhoti soon and I hope to go join him. Follow his adventure on his web site www.nimblewillnomad.com. Also check out his new book, I have a copy, very nice.

This site is brought to you by the Alabama Hiking Trail Society, dedicated to completing the Eastern Continental Trail and increasing hiking opportunities in Alabama.  We hope you find the information useful and will consider supporting the AHTS.  Before you leave please visit the AHTS web page to learn more about us and the work we do.

Please help make this site interactive by providing your feedback and updates on the trails and signing the guestbook.  The guestbook and discussion board can be found under "Trail Talk."
